SLSU opens celebration of National S&T Week
Southern Luzon State University opened its celebration of the National Science and Technology Week through a virtual opening ceremony via Zoom cloud conferencing, Sept. 13, 2021.
The theme of the celebration is “Agham at Teknolohiya: Tugon sa Hamon ng Panahon”. The keynote speaker of the ceremony, Ms. Emelita R. Bagsit, OIC-Regional Director of the Department of Science and Technology CALABARZON, encouraged everyone to submit proposals to the Science for Change Program (S4CP) of the department.
“[L]et us remember that innovation in science should be for the people as well. These innovations should not stay within the circles of scientists and researchers who produced them so that the people who most need them can benefit from these advances. Knowledge and technology transfer are important in maximizing the benefits of science and technology, especially at a time when misinformation is rampant,” said Dr. Doracie B. Zoleta-Nantes, university president in her opening remarks.
This year’s celebration is hosted by SLSU Lucena, the home of the Technology Innovation Center of the university and the Center for Hazard and Environmental Resource Mapping (CHERM) which is the authoritative source of hazard and environmental resources data in the CALABARZON Region.
