It was June 2011 when SLSU Catanauan Extension was instituted thru the strong determination of the former SLSU University President, Dr. Cecilia N. Gascon. The establishment of the campus was made in collaboration with the former Quezon Governor, now Congressman David C. Suarez, Catanauan Mayor Atty. Ramon Orfanel and Sangguniang Bayan. The school was initially located in Luna cor. Mabini Sts. in the town proper of Catanauan, Quezon. It was originally designed to provide extension classes for agriculture, education, and technology programs.
Due to the increasing number of student population, the Catanauan LGU in collaboration with SLSU administration decided to construct administration building and classrooms in Brgy. Madulao. The said barangay is approximately 2 kms away from the town proper of Catanauan, with a total land area of 1.5 hectares. The land on which the college is being built on was donated by Mr. Antonio Macaraig and Mrs. Angelina Ballesteros Rosales. The endowment of parcel was intended to help the people in the locality, particularly the out of school youth, to achieve high level of education.
The campus was first supervised by Dr. Rebecca O. Rufo. It was year 2012 when the administration of the campus was transferred to Dr. Wilfredo Faller. Year 2018 when Dr. Faller decided to retire from service. Since then, the administration and supervision of the campus was entrusted to Dr. Manuel P. de los Santos.
- Provide better access to quality tertiary education for the students of the 3rd District of Quezon and its nearby municipalities.
- Enhance/upgrade physical resources to support expansion and development of SLSU to a 21st century learning institution.
- Provide beyond mediocrity education for both men and women, as well as for those students with special needs and concerns.
