Possibility of Hiring Agri Students Interns at Girasoles, High – Owner
Girasoles Farm Owner, Mr. Rodulfo Dean said that the possibility of absorbing some of the 21 interns from the Southern Luzon State University as their own employee is high.
Under a Memorandum of Agreement, 21 3rd year students from the College of Agriculture were assigned to conduct their internship at the Girasoles Farm in Candelaria, Quezon. The eight Organic Agriculture Majors, and 13 Crop Science Majors were required to render 240 hours or six weeks for their internship.
Mr. Dean said that they have agreed to have the students stay in the farm and be provided with drinking water. The interns conduct their on-the-job training from Mondays to Saturdays wherein they were taught to sow seeds, transplant seedlings, make concoctions, practice landscaping, make fertilizers, repotting of flowers and assorted vegetables, and prepare potting, among others.
The students’ training, according to Mr. Dean, will be an advantage when they plan on hiring personnel in the future.
