House Approves an Act Establishing a Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Animal Medical Center in SLSU
The House of Representatives approves House Bill No. 9804, on December 7, 2021.
The said bill is an act establishing a Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Lucban, and an Animal Medical Centre in SLSU Catanauan, and appropriating funds therefor.
Through the HB 9804, SLSU aims to address the effects of the African Swine Fever (ASF) and other diseases; to help augment the need for veterinary and animal science professionals in Quezon, Region IV-A and other adjoining regions; and to bring the Vet Med program closer to the students in Quezon and other neighboring localities, and help provide scholarship grants.
The Veterinary Teaching Hospital and the Animal Medical Center will also serve as research sites to build the necessary database to study further the welfare and health conditions of the different types of animals in the CALABARZON region.
The bill was introduced by Representatives Hon. David C. Suarez, Hon. Anna Marie Villaraza-Suarez, and Hon. Aleta C. Suarez.
