The road to ISO Certification has started in SLSU in 2012. The ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System certification project was formally launched on December 10, 2012. Initial preparation involved determination of the practical scope and boundaries of QMS, mapping the process coverage and conducting QMS orientation and trainings. The QMS of Southern Luzon State University covered all its operations and processes at its main campus in Brgy. Kulapi, Lucban, Quezon, Philippines, which include “Instruction, Research, Production and Development, and Extension Services.”
Certification International Philippines was contracted as the certifying body and conducted the ISO Audit in 2015. The ISO 9001:2008 Certification was granted to SLSU on April 20, 2015.
When the new version of ISO 9001 came out, the university prepared its transition to ISO 9001:2015 on November 2016. More trainings and consultations were conducted to get ready for the new version. Additional documents were prepared, revised, added and action plans were implemented. Efforts, patience and cooperation were collaborated by the Administration. Internal QMS Auditors, Process Owners, Teaching and Non-Teaching personnel in making all processes, procedures, forms and reports an ISO complaint. SLSU was given the ISO 9001:2015 Certification on April 20, 2018.
To sustain continuous ISO Certification, periodic audits are being done both by the internal and external quality auditors. SLSU’s commitment to quality and excellent service is now being operated within the borders of International Standards. The SLSU family worked together to cater to the expectation and satisfaction of its clients. Everyone in involved since “Quality is Everybody’s Responsibility”.
