On October 24-28, the Southern Luzon State University celebrated the 2022 Science and Technology Week with the “Agham at Teknolohiya: Kabalikat sa Maunlad at Matatag na Kinabukasan”. The Regional Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) CALABARZON, Dr. Emelita P. Bagsit, graced the occasion as Keynote Speaker. Dir. Bagsit commended SLSU for holding the S&T Week celebration regularly and also took notice of the developments of the University throughout the years. Ms. Maria Esperanza E. Jawili, the Provincial Director of DOST-Quezon, was also present during the opening program which was shortly followed by the opening of exhibits. Dir. Jawili accompanied Dir. Bagsit in judging the booths of various SLSU colleges and campuses at the SLSU Gymnasium.
Besides the exhibit contest, the weeklong celebration includes R&D activities such as the 2022 Intercollegiate Research Conference, the 1st Research Congress, the Extension PIME and Proposal Workshop, the Training Workshop on Gender Responsive Extension, the Intellectual Property and Patent Drafting, and the Gender and Wine all Together for Development (GAWAD). The said activities were spearheaded by the offices under the Vice President for Research, Extension, Production, Development, and Innovation (VP-REPDI), specifically the Office of Research Services, the Office of Extension Services, the Office of Production Services, and the Innovation and Technology Support Services Office.
The SLSU Alabat Campus, headed by Dr. Jobert Lomboy, successfully hosted the event together with the S&T Steering Committee composed of various College Deans and Campus Directors. The SLSU Gender and Development Office also supported the event by providing sponsorship to some of the activities.
The announcement of the best exhibits, best student papers, and outstanding faculty researches was held during the closing ceremonies at the SLSU Gymnasium on November 7, 2022. Further, the faculty members who successfully applied their utility models were also recognized.
