MoU Signing between Glenville State College (West Virginia, U.S.A.) & Southern Luzon State University (Lucban, Quezon, Philippines) for Collaborative Online International Learning on SLSU’s Master of Forestry
SLSU collaborates with Glenville State College in West Virginia, U.S.A
On February 22, 2021 (9:00 a.m. PST, 8:00 a.m. US EST), SLSU held a virtual signing ceremony on the Memorandum of Understanding with a state university in West Virginia, U.S.A. – Glenville State College (GSC). SLSU will be collaborating on the GSC’s curricular offerings under Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL). The university had an initial participation in COIL in 2019 for the Master of Forestry program. COIL provides a unique learning experience for students across the globe. It brings froth intercultural competencies as students get to interact with people from different backgrounds and cultures. Moreover, this methodology enables faculty to work with academicians from other colleges and universities for a joint module and other learning materials. This academic cooperation is relevant today as COIL enables a virtual mobility experience both for faculty and students in the international context, identifying with the SLSU’s vision of becoming an excellent academic hub. The MoU signing ceremony was attended by the officials of SLSU headed by Pres. Doracie B. Zoleta-Nantes with Dr. Gondelina A. Radovan, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Joanna Paula E. Verano, Director of International and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Mari Jane A. Lee, Graduate School Dean, Dr. Cynthia L. Payonga, Dean of the College fo Agriculture, and Dr. Amalia E. Almazol, Program Chair of Master of Forestry, and administrators from Glenville State College led by Pres. Mark A. Manchin with Dr. Mari Clements, the Associate Vice-President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Dwight Heaster, Director of International Programs, and Dr. Rico M. Gazal, Chair of the Department of Land Resources. This virtual ceremony was facilitated by the staff of the International Affairs Office and the technical team of Management Information System of both institutions.
