Dr. Maaliw bags best paper in IEEE World AI IOT Congress
Dr. Renato R. Maaliw III, dean of the College of Engineering, bagged the best paper award in the prestigious IEEE World Artificial Intelligence – Internet of Things Congress in the category of big data, data management and analytics, May 14, 2021.
Dr. Maaliw received the award for his paper entitled “Early Prediction of Electronic Engineering Licensure Examination Performance Using Random Forest” which he presented May 11, 2021. Dr. Maaliw was also invited to publish his paper in an open-access journal free of charge by one of the attendees of the presentation.
According to Dr. Maaliw, the paper he presented to the IEEE World AI IOT Congress took two years to realize and involved “arduous data collection, almost endless codes for constructing optimized prediction models, countless hours of documentation and writing.”
Dr. Maaliw was also able to network with other researchers from various countries through the congress.
